Comeback PT 1

So, lately the world has drained me dry of all my creativity, stamina (if I had any before), and tolerance. I even went so far as to take a mental health day today. One of the things I wanted to do was bring this baby back to life. I don't know how I let my writing and my love for writing slip so far down the hill. However, I do have a bunch of collages stacked up in powerpoint that you may be seeing soon as well as some of my newest creations.

Now, to Prom as I am sure some of you know about. Lemme just say that this class below mine that hosted this dance, well, richer doesn't make you better. The DJ sucked epically, the organization was a bit...odd, and it was just boring all around. Except for the food. The salads and the pasta (which I had) were I think restaurant quality. Which was nice. I also loved wearing my dress again as well as my mother's (My Bead Journey) Bracelet she made for me and another Bracelet made by Lori of Out of the Flames! Can I just say; SPARKLE!

This was some of what I took with me to prom!

On another note, On Easter I received a craft storage box from my parents that is total win and also very inspiring. It looks chunky and like it wouldn't hold everything. However, it does! <3

It has one box in which I have put my stash of findings and beads that I have collected as well as bead bits that I have made. I even put a couple boxes in the biggest row to add some flare as well as organization. The second box holds my stash of polymer clay and the third holds ALL of my tools. This thing is amazing. Sometimes I open it all up now just to look at what I have. LOL Oh and there is a compartment at the top of the box. It is so big it can hold my bead rack, travel cases, and my stash of boxes. However, it is now holding what I have collected so far for my dorm room which I will tell you about soon.

For now, I bid you all Ado! Sorry for my absence YET again. XD

Starting Again.

Okay, it is SO SO SO time for some major spring cleaning; lifestyle edition! I am so fustrated with the lack of muse and lack of hope in my life right now that I feel like I need a new start (to a certain degree)! So as far as my Blog-baby goes, I shall be changing a couple things around and working on some new entries here and there. I shall be back to posting eventually, for I am quitting my muse killing job and working on a lot of college stuffles (which are somewhat inspiring I think). That is all I have for today, ado!

Irony Fails Sometimes

Okay. Holy shiz. The features are going to have to wait due to lack of inspiration and too much pressure to pump them out right now. Life is going on the weird side lately. I hate my job, but I like it. I hate school, but I like it. I hate drama, but my muse to create is somewhat back. I am restless, but content. IRONY PEOPLE! XD

So for now, I shall leave my features in my notebooks until all of this nonsence is sealed and done. I have decided that I am going to quit my job at the burger shack in May (if this weeks paycheck is what I think it is.) I am going to focus whole heartedly on making it through this until then. It really isn't that hard, but the way it cuts in between me and life really makes it seem hard. Also, I have to watch what I say about my job to my parents because when I vent, I exagerate. They think I am not greatful for the job I have and think I complain too much. My mom is better about it. But that is because she is my venting wall so to speak. I actually respect that wall. XD I am just realizing that this job is NOT a job worth keeping for too long. AND School. Oh school. I am so excited to be rid of you too. I hate being bored and not having inspiration because you are boreing. But enough of that shiz.

Like I have said, I have been creating things. Collages, Accsessories, and even starting on my Cosplay for next month. It is fustrating though, because I have so MUCH to show and tell you all about, but now that I am working a possible four day week and have projects going on for school, I have little time to actually relax and tell you all about them. That is, unless I find time after working to write.

Frequency of posts will be questionable. They might pick up, they might not. Just know that I haven't forgotten about LBT and you all! Hopefully life will stop conspirring and give me time to breathe and be happy. I'll try to pump out some quick posts every now and then to breathe life into this baby blog, if worse comes to worse. I bid you all ado for tonight! MUCH LOVE ASWELL!

P.S. I feel aweful for not living up to what I had planned as far as double posts and activity have gone. Forgives me? *sad kitty face?*

Bifday and a New Feature!

I don't want to linger too long on the subject of my birthday so I shall sum it up!

The Good Part 1: I got A LOT of polymer clay stuff in the mail from my grandmother. She almost made me cry which was nice because I have been frustrated with family problems lately (mostly around my spoiled cousins). But anyway, she was FANTASTIC! See, See! I AM her favorite! I also got a wonderful box of chocolates, and when I say wonderful, I mean it had my FAVORITE chocolates in it. Aside from the coconut one. I also got a big Hershy kiss and bracelet (which were for Valentine's Day, but whatever. X3)

The Good Part 2: Didn't have to work because my mom called in and said I had a migraine. I went to a chinese bistro for dinner and got tickets to see Lord of the Dance. I also got a flower arragement from my aunt that was in the shape of a birthday cake. It was wonderful. We also watched hook and had Key Lime Cake.

The Bad: I might get in trouble because the phone (we called on a cell phone) was still on and they could have heard my mom and I talking (loudly) and my estatic Yay. If I get in trouble for this I am going to cry... Even though I did actually have a headache and still did even after dinner. Especially since when I got my cake, my grandmother seemed miffed at me. Come to find out she was mad at me for not calling my aunt about the beautiful flower arragement, when I told her myself that I had sent her a text about it. WTF? Thats like saying I lied. Ontop of that I had to deal with evil people at school...

IN OTHER NEWS! I have a new feature coming your way called "Inspired." It is about things that inspire me that I have found in my cyber or other travels. I will provide a collage of pictures from the subject, my thoughts, and an Etsy based collage of sorts, as well as a question or two for you my Lovely Readers! <3 (Oh and just so you know, that feature is why I have not written much of anything. xD)

That is all I have for you today, ado!
~Shelby

P.S. And I almost forgot, I might be spamming your notices soon (being some point in the next few weeks) with double posts if I can, Sorry! I have a  lot of new things to show off! <3

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Well, that didn't work.

That has been my saying lately...here is why. You can skip this post if you want. Believe me, it's boring!

One, I tried to write a whole post devoted to my birthday. But my birthday is coming sooner than I thought. It's next week and I still don't have a good enough idea for s post. So, fail on that part. I might have to go into work that day anyway because I forgot to ask for it off. (Yeah, I really like spending my birthday at a burger shack taking orders from people who really should stop eating that kind of food or who are just overly annoying and think they know how to do my job. Oh yea, great birthday party there! *sarcastic voice*)

Two; I've had to deal with some drama that was stupid and immature. I knew I shouldn't get so mad about it but logic of coarse failed me. The more I thought about it the more angry I got. So, I have officially concluded that I am done trying to get along with people in my school. I'll save my energy for my friends that I talk to online and college.

Three; SNOW?! I HAS NONE! D: So much for the storm of the century or something like that. I still got a free snow day. My inspiration came, which was nice, but it only lasted an hour. D:

Four; I should have been in a printmaking class this semester but because of the way my schedule is set up, I can't be in it. Which means I am stuck in a class where me and my art teacher clash. BADLY! So I may ask him if I can do print making during this class, or I may spring a TON of jewelry making projects on him so he doesn't have to tell me what to do. What do you think?

I'm so stuck, but I shall bid you ado for now.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year has always been a sort of wonder for me. The abundance of reds, golds, whites, creams, and other warm colors, the beautiful envelopes, and of coarse the dragons! This year is the Year of the Rabbit which starts on February 3rd, and I want to start looking at how I can adapt some of this holiday into my life in the near or far future even though I am not of Asian decent. (Mostly because there are no festivals around me for this holiday...)

I, like I said, love the Chinese New Year Dragon costumes. They are so awe inspiring, that I can't imagine a new years celebration without it. So, for the celebration, I would have a dragon themed project. A mask or a puppet, or even jewelry would be perfect for my own little celebration.

I could also send my friends handmade red envelopes with a little goody inside to spread the excitement. I love the red envelopes and such that are created for the celebration as well. Then maybe go out to some place that serves awesome Chinese Food. Yum Yum! :D

I find that events and celebrations should not be limited to just the people that the holiday belongs to, but to everyone who wants to be a part of it. Now oogle at y favorite chinese food and I bid you Ado!
~Shelby

P.S. Oh and here are some of my dragons that my Grandfather brought back from China for me when I was little. As well as my origami crane that my best friend made me a couple summers ago.

Shelby's Film Fest :: ROBIN HOOD (2010)

The newest Robin Hood related film, with Robin being played by Russel Crowe is a very new take on the old legend. An archer in the Crusades, under the comand of King Richard "The Lionheart", he finds himself running for his life after the death of the king in battle. When he swears to return to England with something of value, he finds himself facing his past for the first time.

The Actors: Russel Crowe played the part of Robin Hood very well, though the acting resembled the acting he did for his character in the movie Gladiator. Cate Blanchett was fantastic though!! She added a more rough and less perfect face to the character of Marian. Though she was quiet for some parts of the movie, her satirical and moodiness added more to the story than normal words could have in this case. Also, Robin's friends there were absolutely adorable and hysterical. Friar Tuck was a lot different in this story. He was more calm, funny, and philosophical.

The Story: The story was really slow and jumbled up at first but as more characters and depth were added to the story, it became much more exciting.

The Music: The music is really sweet and has a Celtic ring to it (which makes me very happy.) There is also one character who plays a small instument and even sings. It is quite awesome and funny.

The Good: Fantastic story and twists! It was very different from the other versions of Robin Hood. It is just a fun movie.

The Bad: Some parts of the movie were slow and confusing. It takes a second look at the movie to really figure it out. Then there were some weird scenes.

I have to say, I was so ready for this to be a good movie. However, I was not expecting it to surpass the expectations and thoughts I had prior to watching it, and even more surprised when it (in my opinion) surpassed my love for the Kevin Costner Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. I was very shocked! This movie by far is ranked as one of my absolute favorite movies, hands down! But that really depends on personal preference. If your someone who likes lower budget movies, long movies, music and singing, and/or this sort of genre, you will like it if not love it.

Movie Snack: Snickerdoodle Cookies and Coke Cola. Rough and Sweet! <3

Little Wolf Little Wolf

So, this week has been kinda bleh. I went to the bank and a woman at the counter saw my father and brother and said to me after they left "Oh your son is so cute!" I was so shocked. How old did she think I was? Like, I get it is the times we live in now, but that is just so ODD! If he was my son, I would have had to have him when I was 13 or so! EWEWEWEWEWEW! 'O.o Aside from that vomit worthy weird experience, I have recently taken on making a Gloomy Bear for a friend of mine (whom I hardly see even though we go to the same school) as well as fixing a class mate's bracelet. She and another classmate of mine tried to fix the magnetic clasp of a bracelet by putting super glue on it, however, they ended up gluing the two magnets together. So I being the odd person I am took the bracelet and tried to get the two magnets apart. Nothing worked. So now I have a few options;

Option A: Run the clasp under water and see if that works.
Option B: Try and pry them apart using tools.
Option C: Combine both A and B.
Option D: Replace it. But that costs money.

I am leaning towards C. Anywho, moving on.

I have had a project on my desk that I have neglected to finish or even take a stab at since I came up with it. But today I did! (o * *)o
A while ago, while I was making my xmas wish list, I came across westernmountain's wonderful wolf ring. Gods, I wanted that thing so bad, but ended up not getting it because my parents had already bought me a laptop. Defiantly not complaining there. But me being the stubborn sort said that if I couldn't have that wolf ring, I'd make my own. So I grabbed my wolf statue and some spare polymer clay and made a mold.

It took me a while to figure out how to do it mostly because the clay refused to come out of it once I shoved it in. But bit by bit I pieced together a wolfy face! It's kinda demented looking, but I like it none the less. He's so odd he needs love!

I am thinking that I am going to be making many different colors (Hint: I'm thinking metalic blue, metalic red, white marble, cream 'n' black, and solid black?) of these and once I get wire, I'll make them into rings! WOOT! I am really enjoying working with polymer clay. There aren't as many limits to it as natural clay (though I like that too.) Well, that's all I have on that for today. Ado <3

P.S. I went out to dinner last night and the restaurant had the most awesome idea of using glass jars for cups, to stick to their country theme. So cute!

Absent-ish?

So, yeah, it's been boring. Too boring. Projects have been sitting on my desk, my mind is full of ideas but no juice to write, and well...the usual. xD Though I do have to say, I finally found the perfect subjects to write about and I changed the discombobulated color scheme to a nice neon blue and red on black layout, though that may change once I have an idea for a layout that I can design. u-u'

In other news, my birthday is in a couple of weeks.Yippee? I am going to try and hype myself up about it, but no guarentees, but I'll tell you more about it later. xD I am also going to start doing film reviews once I get time to watch a movie.

Just letting you all know I didn't fall off the face of the earth. LOL!

Well, this is all I have for today, I wanted to post what I have been able to do through my art block but I can not for the life of me find the darn cord to get the photos in the computer D:< And with that I bid you ado for the night!
